The 2019 Barbera d'Alba is fabulous. Bright and radiant, the 2019 is supple and yet classically medium in body. Soft, silky contours wrap around a core of red cherry/plum fruit. Interesting, despite its open-knit feel, the Barbera is a bit lower in alcohol than the norm, and that no doubt adds to its super-classic profile.

The 2018 Dolcetto d'Alba is delicate, perfumed and very pretty, in other words classic Dolcetto, with lovely blue and purplish berry fruit, licorice and lavender notes. Lifted and precise, with lovely persistence, the 2018 is a winner. This is what Dolcetto used to be like, once upon a time.

The 2017 Barolo is gracious, perfumed and very nicely lifted. An effusive, floral bouquet opens first, followed by a rush of red berry fruit. Nervous, a bit wiry at this stage, the 2017 is going to need at least a few years to fully open, but all the elements are in place to allow that to happen.
