The Dehours Champagne Brut Grande Reserve is the result of an assemblage of Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a great percentage of vin de rèserve, fermented according to Solera methods, embraced by Jerome in 1998.

Domaine du Compte Liger-Belair is recent, it was created in 2000 by Viscompte Louis-Michel Liger-Belair. But the family settled in Burgundy well before that date. The Château de Vosne-Romanée was acquired by Louis Liger-Belair in 1815.

Good deep, dark red. Sexy aromas of musky red raspberry, smoke, minerals and earth; cooler than the 2007. Suave on entry, then quite tight in the middle, with a fine grain to the brisk red fruit flavors. Very bright, perfumed wine with the energy of the vintage's best examples. Finishes with terrific lift.

The 2017 La Romanée Grand Cru shows a minuscule touch of VA on the nose, but not enough to cover the intense brambly red fruit underneath, or the veins of blueberry and violet; instead, it lends energy to the aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, a killer line of acidity, and firm but fine, satin-textured tannins.

The 2006 Nuits St. Georges Aux Cras sticks out a bit in this lineup of mostly Vosne wines, even if Cras sits on the northern edge of Nuits. Firm, incisive tannins give the Cras its spine and sense of energy. Dark red cherry and hard candy notes abound in this beautiful, finely-sculpted Burgundy.

Dense and round, offering a velvety texture and good stuffing for village wine. Very ripe but nicely leavened by smoky minerality. In a softer style, finishing with ripe tannins.
