The "Jurij Fiore e Figlie" winery was born in Lamole, a small hamlet in the municipality of Greve in Chianti, in the province of Florence. It is a very small town located at about 600 meters above sea level whose winemaking tradition has been rooted since the times of the ancient Romans.
The vineyards are characterized by sandstone soils, enjoy excellent exposure and a particular microclimate and are considered among the best in all of Tuscany for the production of splendid Chianti Classico, known for its strong fragrances and refined taste.
Jurij is the son of the well-known and influential oenologist Vittorio Fiore and for years he has worked on the family farm Poggio Scalette - producer of the famous Carbonaione - on the nearby hill of Ruffoli, another hamlet of Greve in Chianti.
The idea is to produce wines that enhance the peculiarities of the territory and local varieties, combining the influence of his Burgundian winemaking training with a focus on quality, or rather excellence.
Antonio Galloni of Vinous wrote about him:
"Jurji Fiore is best known for the wines he has made alongside his father, Vittore, for years at the family’s Poggio Scalette property in Greve. These are the first wines I have tasted from the new project Fiore is leading with his daughter, Sara, in Greve’s famed Lamole district. Based on what I have tasted so far, Jurji Fiore & Figlia is easily one of the most exciting and promising new projects in Tuscany."
And more recently mentioned: "Jurij Fiore and daughter, Sara, continue to turn out distinctive wines from small parcels in the Lamole and Montefioralle UGAs. This young estate continues to impress."
